Hello Sweeties!
I hope you are having a great December and are celebrating whatever you celebrate with happiness and those you love.
We celebrate a mix of Yule and Christmas here on the mountain. The tree is set up and decorated, Mermaid helped Tank through his first time meeting Santa and the pictures were adorable.
Today is the last day before my holiday break from my day job, as well as Mermaid’s last day of school before the holidays. We will be baking all the things, then eating every bite while watching a bunch of our favorite holiday movies, reading our books, and working on our stories.
While I work on a Rent-A-Witch: Whynot story she is working on her short story for the Young Georgia Writer competition. Last year she won in her grade for her elementary school as well as the county. So, if anyone asks, yes there is an award-winning writer in my house - it’s just not me.
I am working on putting more diversity in my books. The thing is I need people to talk to about the characters I want to create. If you are willing to talk to me through emails or direct messages, I would love to find out more about my readers and what they want to see represented in my stories.
First, I am looking for someone to interview and then be a sensitivity reader for a W/W romance that is in progress for the Whynot series. I love love, and want to represent more diverse couples, but as a chick who’s been in love with one guy since I was 17 - I need some help getting the nuances of the relationships and attractions right.
Second, I am looking for someone who uses a wheelchair. I know what it is like to use my cane but need help making sure I get the wheelchair experience right.
I’ve joined a few curated book lists and want to share them with you. Let me know if you find something awesome in them. Because FOMO is real when it comes to books.
Ok, that is it for me. I’m going to go make a spice cake with Mermaid and start a new book tonight. After we have our weekly Minecraft date.
I hope you all get what you want from those you love this year.
xo,
